The Chairperson would like to ensure that the electoral process in the Union of The Comoros is concluded peacefully and orderly in observance of law and all other agreements that the parties have concluded, including the 15 March Protocol d’Accord to enhance the credibility, transparency and security of elections. Accordingly, she has approved the deployment of African Union election expert observers to accompany the people of the Union of The Comoros in this process.

The Chairperson appeals to presidential candidates, their supporters and all stakeholders to live up to the expectations of the people of the Union of The Comoros and avoid violence before, during and after the elections. She encourages all political actors and stakeholders to utilise recognised non-violence channels to address any elections-related disputes.

The AU Commission Chairperson wishes the citizens of the Union of The Comoros peaceful, calm, transparent and credible by-elections.
