The African Union denounces the suicide attacks in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Monday 4 July 2016

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia, July 6, 2016/APO/ --

The Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission, Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, denounces the suicide attacks in the Saudi Kingdom that took place on Monday 4 July 2016. She describes the attack at the Prophet's Mosque in Medina as an assault on Islam and innocent worshippers. She expresses her condolences to the families of the deceased.

The Chairperson of the Commission stresses that this cowardly attacks are further illustration of the seriousness of the threat of terrorism to humanity and reiterated the AU’s full solidarity with the Saudi Government and people

The Chairperson of the Commission reaffirms the AU’s strong rejection of all acts of terrorism and violent extremism and reiterates the AU’s commitment to continue working with Saudi Arabia, and the international community, in the fight against terrorism and violent extremism. In this regard, she calls for enhanced global cooperation in the fight against terrorism and violent extremism.
