AU condemns Orlando terrorist mass shooting, condoles with the US
The Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC), Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, has learnt with shock and disbelief the terrorist attacks at a nightclub in Orlando, Florida, 11 June 2016. She has sent a message of condolence to President Barack Obama, the people of the United States of America, and the families and relatives of victims.
The AU Commission Chairperson has condemned, in the strongest terms, these despicable and barbaric acts, which are one of the worst in the US history.
While wishing speedy recovery to the wounded victims of the Orlando attacks, the AUC Chairperson reassured the people of the United States of America of the African Union’s solidarity and full support at this critically difficult time.
The AU Commission Chairperson further reaffirms the AU’s strong rejection of all acts of terrorism and violent extremism by whomever, wherever and for whatever purposes. She reiterates the AU’s commitment to continue working with the US, and the international community at large, in the fight against terrorism and violent extremism.
